RSVP invites interested volunteers to serve as Science Fair Judges at the Meadow Hill Middle School Science Fair on Wed., March 10 from 12:15 – 3:00 p.m.  No experience is necessary.  The only requirements are an interest in the sciences (botany, chemistry, medical sciences, etc.) and the abilities to be unbiased and fair in judging,  work with middle school youth, and encourage them to pursue their interest in the sciences.  If you would enjoy being a Science Fair Judge call Helen at 728-7682. 

The YMCA Riverbank Run on Saturday, April 24 is going strong in its 38th year. From its humble beginnings with less than 300 participants to its current stature as the largest foot race in Missoula, this event holds a top ranking with Runner’s World magazine.  Proceeds are used to benefit and empower kids, create opportunities for families and encourage them to make a difference, too.  Volunteers are needed to help with preliminary tasks during March, such as folding T-shirts and preparing packets. The Missoula Convention and Visitor’s Bureau, handling tourism all year long, has openings in their busy office.  Answer phones, greet the public and work with their brochure displays.  Contact Helen at 728-7682 for information.   

Community Medical Center is in the process of changing offices for several services and they need help greeting, escorting and directing patients to navigate around their campus.  Assist for a few hours on week days and weekends.  Contact Helen at 728-7682 for details. 

Discover an exciting way to use your skills! The RSVP Action Task Force offers opportunities to support and strengthen our community by assisting with emergency preparedness; education, mock drills, immunization clinics, emergency call centers, evacuation centers or aiding vulnerable populations during a disaster.  A wide array of roles are available if you like to help behind the scenes, plan and lead projects or use specific technical skills.  Task Force volunteers choose their preference of projects and the amount of time they want to give!  Call Helen at 728-7682 to learn more. 

Phone receptionists are needed for just three or four hours a week (morning or afternoon) at Missoula’s American Cancer Society office to answer phones and greet the public.  With cancer incidents increasing, a caring voice can make a real difference. Contact Helen at 728-7682 to obtain details.

Open medical volunteer positions at St. Patrick Hospital, Community Medical Center and Partnership Health Center include information desk, receptionist, escort, delivery and gift shop assistants weekdays and weekends. Call Helen for details and benefits at 728-7682.

Cancer Education Assistants guide cancer patients, families and caregivers with vital information and make referrals to available resources, including American Cancer Society programs and services. This key volunteer position requires computer and Internet search skills as well as adherence to professional confidentiality standards and a weekly commitment of four hours. For more information, please call Helen at 728-7682.

Respite Caring Companions needed to provide on-going weekly companionship and care for older adults. Volunteer support allows primary caregiver a period of relief (respite) from day-to-day caregiving responsibilities. Four hours/week, minimum of six months. Free training provided, flexible schedule (days and times).

Earn a small stipend while volunteering. Enjoy being a Senior Companion and earn a little money. These volunteers work one-to-one with homebound elderly, assisting with light transportation and providing friendly companionship. This help allows recipients to stay at home rather than being institutionalized, which results in major health care savings for seniors, their families and communities. Friendly schedulers use telephone and people skills to provide information to interested RSVP members regarding short-term volunteer opportunities. Serve just three to 10 hours monthly from the comfort of your own home. Call Helen at 728-7682 for more information.

Touch lives by delivering food to seniors just once or twice a month through the ROOTS program. Typical monthly commitment is for three hours or less.
