Housing & Long Term Care Supports

The goal of many seniors is to live independently in their own homes. Seniors are often able to remain at home because of a variety of supports and services available.  To see a list of local home health care services, click here.

Home Maintenance & Safety Program:

When you live on a fixed income, even little repairs around the home might become budget breakers. That is why Missoula Aging Services offers seniors help through the Home Maintenance & Safety Program. A member of our team of volunteers may be able to help with small maintenance jobs like changing a washer in a faucet, attaching a grab bar to a wall or cleaning a rain gutter. We can even come to your home for a safety inspection just to make sure you are living in a safe environment. Call 728-7682 for more information.

Senior Residences:

Residents who are mobile and can take care of themselves live in their own apartments in these buildings. They may share some meals in a central dining room and receive housekeeping services. Some facilities may provide a variety of recreational and social activities. Senior Residences cannot provide any direct personal care or assistance to residents. Adult Foster Care:

The hallmark of this option is the small family setting (up to four residents) in which personal care services are provided. The staff provides services such as meals, laundry and light personal care.

Retirement Communities:

Retirement

These communities offer active seniors an opportunity to live an independent lifestyle while they continue to live in their own home. They may offer residents access to scheduled social activities, dining services, housekeeping services, linen and/or personal laundry, emergency call monitoring, and round the clock security. It is important that you have all contracts reviewed by your attorney or financial consultant before signing.

Assisted Living Homes:

These facilities are more communal in nature than retirement communities. Residents usually live in a studio apartment or single or double bedroom. Services center on providing needed assistance with activities of daily living such as eating, bathing, dressing and grooming. In addition, medication management and general supervision of residents are provided with oversight by a physician.  Click here for a list of Missoula area facilities.

Nursing Homes:

Nursing homes are an option for those who need skilled nursing care and substantial, long-term assistance. This setting provides medical, personal care and meals. Rooms may be private or semi-private.
Choosing a home isn't a decision to be taken lightly. We strongly recommend that you call us for assistance in choosing the best facility for you or a loved one.
